Learn to play the guitar

The Aunts survive a disaster with a major label (RCA Records) and a near-breakup (resulting in the departure of two members), to regroup and release this incredible EP. Founding member Phil Hurley and Paul Brouwer split, leaving Phil's brother Steve and Dave Gibbs to continue on. They picked up Fred Eltringham and Jon Skibic, recorded some demos, and decided that they were good enough to put out. Wicked Disc, an indie label in Boston, agreed and put out this six song EP.
Starting out with Kinda Girl, the Gigolo Aunts immediately show off the fact that they have not lost one bit of their sense of humor. In fact, all six of these tunes are witty, quirky, twisted, or a combination of all three. The guitars have toned down some, especially when compared to 1994's Flippin' Out, but the tunes are still energetic, the playing is excellent, and the vocals are clean. Old fans of the group may be a little surprised at first listen, but this is one strong disc.
